How it works
Create your workspace
Sign up and start a 14-day trial. The importer is included on every plan.
Connect with your API key
Paste the email and personal API key from your Content Workflow profile. The key is encrypted at rest, never shown again, and you can delete it any time.
Pick projects and run a dry run
Choose an account and projects. The dry run reads everything and writes nothing, then shows you what would be created.
Import and review the report
Run the real import. Progress updates live, each item gets its own result, and a CSV mapping and error report is ready to download.
Re-run whenever you like
Imports are idempotent. Run again after editing in Content Workflow and only the changes come across, with no duplicates.
What can't come across, and why
Some things aren't available through Content Workflow's public API. We'd rather you know before you start.
Comments
The Content Workflow public API has no endpoint for reading comments, so comment threads can't be imported. Export anything you need to keep first.
Archived items
The API doesn't return the content of archived items. You can skip them, or bring them across as title-only placeholders in an “Archived (imported)” folder.
People
There's no users endpoint. Invite your teammates first; anyone we can't match by email is listed in the report so you can invite them and run the import again.
Per-status due dates
Only each item's next due date is available, so that's the one we import.

Migration questions
Will the importer change anything in my Content Workflow account?
No. The importer only makes read (GET) requests. It can't create, edit, move or delete anything in Content Workflow.
How long does an import take?
It depends on the size of your account. The importer paces itself well within Content Workflow's published API rate limits and backs off if asked, so large accounts take longer, but jobs resume automatically if interrupted.
Do I have to move everything at once?
No. Import one project at a time, or a subset of items. You can run Content Workflow and WriteStuff side by side while your team switches over.
Where do I find my API key?
In Content Workflow, open your personal settings and generate an API key. Use the email you sign in with as the username.
Is WriteStuff part of Bynder?
No. WriteStuff is an independent product with no affiliation to Bynder or GatherContent.
